Eat Good Food. Live Forever.

At Duke’s, eating well is not a fad, it’s our philosophy

by Duke Moscrip

To me, food is more than just the basics of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s more than just finding something to fill yourself up when you’re hungry.

Good food is a lifestyle.

My food philosophy is the basis for every business decision I make and is one of the driving passions in my life. I believe that the key to a healthy life is eating healthy food, and my highest goal is to provide my customers with healthy food choices.

Duke’s Food Philosophy

One of my core beliefs is that eating good, wholesome food can help you live forever, and I mean that literally! Forever. Well, Almost. Wholesome food and an active lifestyle are the keys to this secret.

Food and nutrition are crucial elements of a healthy life; they have a power that is incredibly strong if you tap into it effectively. Fueling your body with wholesome, nutritious, and delicious food means that you will live longer and healthier than you would otherwise.

What Does “Wholesome” Mean, Anyway?

To me, wholesome means natural, as in how it is found in nature. That means no additives, no pesticides, no hormones, and no genetic engineering. It doesn’t mean any kind of bizarre health food that tastes awful! Wholesome ingredients can be combined in creative ways to produce some of the most incredible flavors you’ve ever tasted!

That’s my philosophy with the food we serve at Duke’s Seafood & Chowder: bring wholesome flavor to our customers. My passion for optimal health, power-packed flavor, and smart business all combine at Duke’s to create a unique dining experience. I hope to continue introducing my philosophy to customers for years to come.

Good Health, Great Flavor

I am a passionate student of nutrition and health and it is my personal crusade to transform the restaurant industry. Remember the ban on trans fats? I don’t mean to boast, but I had read about those nasty compounds and banned them from our restaurant years before it became a law to do so. In this way, Duke’s has led the charge for healthy choices. In the last 41 years, Duke’s has banned:

  • trans fats
  • farmed salmon
  • dairy products with growth hormones
  • nitrates
  • GMO foods
  • aspartame
  • grain-fed beef
  • high fructose corn syrup
  • soy lecithin
  • and many more

These and any other “food” items that are deemed unhealthy or even controversial are promptly removed from our menu and replaced with a more wholesome alternative. Everything on our menu is what I believe to be the best that nature has to offer, and I am constantly sourcing more natural, nutritious ingredients to incorporate into our meals all the time.

Everything in this salad is good for you, wholesome, and of course delicious!

Good food feeds the mind, the body and the soul (that’s why you’ll still find delicious treats like cake, pie, and ice cream at Duke’s). Being healthy isn’t just eating vegetables and water for the rest of your life. It’s about balance, and moderation, and choosing to eat wholesome food rather than junk.

At Duke’s Chowder House, we are proud to offer our customers delicious, wholesome ingredients that are sustainably sourced and in their natural state. Sign up for our newsletter and get a free dinner or lunch (a two for one combo), special offers, and secret Duke’s recipes sent right to your inbox.
